What is an underlying question that gives form
to your work or interest in this field?
“How can I contribute to evoking the versatility
of thinking needed to promote a critical mass of people actively seeking
to experience and learn from “collective wisdom?"
What is your personal experience of collective
wisdom in groups?
40 years of group work.
Sharing the Darshan of Sathya Sai Baba with 20,000 devotees
at Prasanthi Nilayam every February.
Coming to know deeply that we are all connected. Experiencing
the “already thereness” of spirit. Meditating in the presence
of Vedic chanting.
Seeing the changes when one accepts the invitation to
question a situation from a perspective different from one’s autopilot
perspectives.
What is it about the work in this field that excites
you and connects you to your own deepest self?
As I move towards withdrawing from “employment-life”
over the next couple of years, I am increasingly passionate about doing
service where I can make a contribution. I keep finding people involved
in their life-work from a collective wisdom perspective in unexpected
places!
Please provide a brief storyline or snapshot of
what brought you to this work.
In 1978, I signed up for a weekend seminar with Karl
Pribram to learn about his brain research. I didn’t pay much attention
to the details, other than where to go and when to arrive. It turned
out to be a two-day conversation between Pribram and Pir Vilayat Inayat
Khan at the first or second year of The Omega Institute. I enjoyed Pribram,
and was totally taken by Pir Vilayat. The serendipity of that pairing
was amazing – and I left feeling that I had been drawn to this
weekend by some greater Decision Maker. The weekend changed my consciousness
in fundamental and permanent ways. That was the beginning of my spiritual
journey, which I now cannot separate from my everyday work and experience.
How would you like to be available to others in
this field?
Talks about cognitive versatility, seminars about sustainability,
involvement in projects that make a difference in the world. Making
available all of the wonderful things I have learned from others about
the power of conversation, the power of meditation, the omnipresence
of spirit, in tangible settings that matter to people.
