What is an underlying question that gives form
to your work or interest in this field?
How do we co-develop and co-evolve our individual and
collective capacities for wisdom, love, and creativity, to nourish all
life?
What is your personal experience of
collective wisdom in groups?
I have witnessed the awakening of collective intelligence
and collective wisdom in many different groups. The experience of collective
wisdom is a function of presence, and typically arises through participants’
common sensing of what is passing, present, and emerging in the group
field (or collective consciousness), when attention and intention are
focused by deeply shared purpose or a “question that matters”.
Arriving at this marks a threshold in a group’s journey together,
and quickens the personal and collective capacities of those present.
What is it about the work in this field that excites
you and connects you to your own deepest self?
The answer lies in the question itself. What most excites
me about the exploration of collective wisdom is that it connects me
to my deepest self – that it invites all participants to connect
with their essential selves – that it calls forth our highest
collective self – and that it brings us into a living relationship
with the creative, self-organizing intelligence at the heart of life.
I love the awakening that takes place in people and groups when we experience
our capacity for inner knowing, when we open to Source, and when we
let ourselves be guided by the wisdom intrinsic to our true nature …
informed by conscious, whole-hearted engagement with others and the
world.
Please provide a brief storyline or snapshot of
what brought you to this work.
I grew up in love with stories of the invisible worlds
that surround us, whispering to us of greater potentials than most of
us ordinarily recognize. I have learned about silence and the world’s
soul through years of walking in the woods, on mountains, and by the
sea … have nurtured exploration of the inner world through more
than 33 years of inquiry in diverse spiritual traditions and consciousness
disciplines … have convened and guided dozens of groups concerned
with issues that ranged from integral healing and altruistic service
to “business as nourishment for life” and sustainable futures,
during 17 years at the Institute of Noetic Sciences … have helped
organizations in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors become more
purpose-centered and principle-based, over five years as managing director
of the Chaordic Alliance and now as an independent consultant …
and have served as creative thinking partner and transformational guide
to leaders committed to liberating the potential of everyone with whom
they work, starting with themselves. On this journey, I have been blessed
with many exceptional mentors, colleagues, and friends … and been
graced by a variety of transformational experiences, some more painful
than others.
How would you like to be available to others in
this field? What would be a meaningful connection? Are you available to
talk with others? What contribution might you be able to make?
I am available for conversation, coaching, consulting,
and collaborative inquiry. As we get to know each other in conversation,
we will discover where our callings resonate, what specific opportunities
speak to us, and what mutual contributions are appropriate.
