What is an underlying question that gives form to your work or interest in this field?
How is it that we can most effectively communicate WITH
each other such that learning takes place that enables the development
of solutions and resolutions to the challenges we face as a species?
What is your personal experience of collective
wisdom in groups?
When I facilitate the resolution of seemingly intractable
conflict between people I observe the fundamental capacity of compassion
emerge that enables understanding, acceptance and accommodation of the
others interests. Observing this phenomenon makes my heart soar.
What is it about the work in this field that excites
you and connects you to your own deepest self?
External space, specifically the frontiers on earth,
has been in great part “conquered.” As a species I think
we face the challenge of either conquering our collective “inner
space” or perishing. Learning how to get along and use resources
effectively is the challenging horizon we face. All else seems to be
moving deck chairs around the titanic.
Please provide a brief storyline or snapshot of
what brought you to this work.
As a lawyer I observed how not to resolve conflicts.
As an observer of people and institutions I had insight into why we
end up in conflict when we try to work with others…we spend little
time creating clarity and agreement about what exactly we think we are
doing with each other. My life is devoted to the skills and repeatable
conversational templates that enable effective collaborations that tap
the collective wisdom of those involved.
How would you like to be available to others in
this field?
I am happy to share the models I have developed and use
them in any way that contributes, including facilitation.
